Step 1 – Get invited to join orkut.
Step 2 – Despite the rather scathing comments seen in past on Boing Boing about orkut and it’s ilk, decide to give it a shot.
Step 3 – Try once. Server not working.
Step 4 – Try a second, third, fourth, and fifth time, all on different days/times. Server never working.
Step 5 – Give up.
I’m having the same experience. I think I’m going to try again after a few days so they can fix whatever the error is.
I still haven’t figured out what, exactly, one is supposed to do with orkut. I mean, if it’s supposed to be for finding new friends through interconnecting people… I’m apparently connected to several million people via the 8 people I’ve bothered to put on my orkut friends. So, that seems less than useful. I don’t Get It.
I don’t really get the whole concept either, and I don’t think you and I are the only ones, as those scathing comments I mentioned said pretty much the same thing.
Therefore I’m not really worried about the fact that I can’t get it to work, because I’d never use it anyway.
