For years I have had to order my Penzeys online and wait days and days for their arrival. But the Hartford Courant reported on April 3rd that Penzeys, my fave spice supplier, has opened up a store just 40 minutes from my door at 24 LaSalle Road.

My kitchen rejoices even though my wallet may not....

Did you get the chance to visit the Madison store?

Posted by: Kristine at April 11, 2008 7:29 PMOoooh! Lucky you! I always ordered mail order when I lived in TN, but now that I'm in Canada, I have to wait for my trips to visit my family in Portland. There is one there though, so it's fun to get to go in the store. Before I learned to cook, I lived just down the street in Oak Park (Chicago) from Penzey's and never went in there once! I had no idea what I was missing. My husband's off to Portland soon and I'm giving him a list! I'm out of so many things. Have you ever tried using any of their salad dressing mixes as a soup base for vegetable soup? Both the Ranch and the French Vinaigrette work great.
